This stunning image depicts a moment of complete natural behavior.
It is a sad fact that we have to use attractants to dive with
sharks, baits, chum, call it what you will, it reflects their
scarcity. To witness something natural without the use of
stimulants is something we can all hope to one day witness. This
image captures beautifully the aspect of natural predation.
Beautifully composed and well executed.

This almost haunting image of a Lemon Shark taken on a night dive
evokes a very strong influence of appreciation. The reflection on
the underside of the waters surface gives the black and white
rendition further ammunition to the very positive vibe of this
image.

This surfing Tiger Shark shot was selected as the runner up based
on technical merit. Its down to split timing and nailing the camera
settings that are the cognitive elements in the judging of this
shot. Well done Dean. Great shot.

Best Human Interaction

A moment between a freediver and an Tiger shark (and a jellyfish)
frozen in time sums up this interaction shot. No investigations
going on, a calm encounter for two very different souls. A
fantastic encounter for both I hope.

Eric Cheng in the company of 'The Pack' on a trip to Tiger Beach. A
fantastic shot with no attractant in the image showing a great
moment between a diver and numerous animals.

Best Wide Angle:
iDS2010WideAngle©SamCahir
Wide Angle is the only option needed to fit in this very large and
very pregnant Bull Shark into the frame. Taken on a shark feeding
dive in Fiji this animal shows that a full Bull Shark is a happy
Bull shark.

'The Way it Used to Be' by David Vik
This video is a well made documented story that blends steady
camera work and a great storyline. It delivers a very poignant and
true message into the reducing number of encounters with open ocean
species. The film also celebrates the incredible sensory overload
when it all clicks and combines in a natural display of predator
and prey. A great piece David, the decision was unanimous.
